Last week some of the team went up to Birmingham for the LARIA Research Impact Awards and conference, and came away with three 'highly commended' awards for the Research and Data teams.
The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, a mouthful no doubt so don’t expect to see that again, let's call it the JSNA. The JSNA is a way of understanding what our Essex population looks like, how many people live where, what the health conditions are, what services they use, and where they are.
Now in its fourth year the Challenge Project is a collaboration between the Data & Analytics and the University of Essex. Each year Essex County Council sets a research topic, aka ‘the challenge’, to some of the best social science undergraduates at the University.
We are excited to let you know that the new Essex Open Data website has gone live. We invite you to explore the current data sets and documents already available and let us know if you have ideas about what else you would like to see in the future.

Essex Innovates is an exciting project aiming to transform the intelligence workforce across the whole of Essex. The aspiration of Essex Partners is “to make Essex national leaders using the power of data science and artificial intelligence to tackle public policy challenges”.
Last year the Research & Citizen Insight team were given the gigantic task of carrying out research into Essex Libraries.
We needed to understand our citizens’ experiences of using libraries, what they value about the service, and how we can create a library service that is fit for today and for the future.
